Caleb Williams Has A Concerning Stat Since Joining NFL

The Chicago Bears desperately need things to work out with Caleb Williams.

The talent is there, but the second-year quarterback has to improve plenty of things.

Notably, a lot of that has to do with his tendency to do a little too much.

Since entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams leads the league in incomplete passes due to an overthrow with 52.

That’s 17 more than Bo Nix, who’s second, also coming off his rookie season.

Uh Oh: Since Caleb Williams joined the NFL, he leads all QBs with 52 incompletions due to an overthrow.

Of course, some of that might have to do with the Bears’ sloppy offense last season, as there were some glaring miscommunication issues.

However, it’s also telling of Williams’ determination to do something spectacular on almost every play.

Sometimes, the right play is the easy play, even if it’s not the flashiest.

Williams has the traits to be a very good NFL QB, and the Bears are committed to him.

They improved the offensive line, they’ve given him a strong supporting cast, and they hired offensive-minded head coach Ben Johnson to accelerate his development.

It will take some patience, and having three offensive coordinators in two seasons didn’t help.

But as much as Williams deserves to be given a break because of the context, he also has to make the necessary adjustments to ensure that his talent doesn’t go to waste.

He has a better situation now, and the expectations are high.
