Report: Evan Mobley has continued to refine his jumper this summer

After [Cleveland Cavaliers](https://cavaliersnation.com/) star big man Evan Mobley displayed meteoric growth as a perimeter shooter in his fourth season, fans should maybe expect him to take another step forward in that part of his game in the coming 2025-26 season, according to one report.

Per Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, the 24-year-old has continued to hone his outside shot this summer heading into his fifth pro campaign. Fedor mentioned that Mobley has worked on his ball handling chops and shot creation as well.

> “This summer, Mobley has continued to refine his jumper,” Fedor [wrote](https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2025/09/can-evan-mobley-make-another-leap-and-enter-the-mvp-conversation-hey-chris.html). “The release is quicker, the motion is fluid and there’s more arc. He has enhanced his ball handling, often simulating dribbling drills against multiple pressing defenders — an area where Mobley (and other Cavaliers) struggled during the playoffs. There’s also been an emphasis on shot creation, offensive initiation and finishing through contact.”

Mobley served as an effective 3-point threat for the first time as an NBA player in the 2024-25 season. He averaged far and away a career-high in 3s attempted per contest at 3.2 during the regular season, and Mobley also knocked down his 3s at a 37.0 percent clip.

The big man was even better at scoring the ball from behind the line during the Cavaliers’ stint in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. He buried 45.2 percent of his 3-point tries across eight games played.

The thought of Mobley upping his effectiveness as a perimeter shooter another notch should terrify the rest of the NBA. He’s already one of the premier two-way players in the league, as he was named an All-Star as well as the Defensive Player of the Year last season.

If Mobley proves to have one of the better jumpers of any player at his position in the league in the coming season, that could be exactly what the doctor ordered for him to take that leap from a solidified star to a superstar.

An improved shot from Mobley would also only aid in the Cavaliers’ pursuit of the 2026 NBA title. Cleveland will look to capture its second title in franchise history after it won more than 60 games and secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference last season.

For as much as it’s encouraging to hear that Mobley is working to further improve his outside shot, what matters is that he shows improvement by shooting the ball from the perimeter with more accuracy and frequency. Time will tell if the work he’s put in will result in him looking like  a new and improved outside shooter.
