Oliver Glasner is currently set to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires in June 2026.
There is currently little optimism within the fanbase over the Austrian extending his terms, after a tense summer where Steve Parish and the 51-year-old were at odds in the public eye.
The most telling moment came on transfer deadline day, when the man born in Salzburg allegedly threatened to quit if Marc Guehi was sold to Liverpool, after Parish accepted a £35m bid.
Simon Jordan has now told talkSPORT why he believes Steve Cooper will replace Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park.
Simon Jordan feels David Blitzer is lining Steve Cooper up for the Crystal Palace job
On Tuesday, Danish giants Brondby hired the Welshman as their new manager.
This development involving Cooper did not exactly send shockwaves through south London, but Jordan believes there could be a connection due to the fact Brondby are owned by David Blitzer, who is on the board at Selhurst Park.
The 57-year-old theorised to Jim White and Danny Murphy: “Could be a way to Palace, couldn’t it?
“There was an interest in Cooper at Palace two or three years ago. Glasner is not going to be at Palace in a year’s time (laughing) – as much as I may want him to be. He’s not gonna be at Palace. He’s got a year left. I’d be gobsmacked. I hope he is and I hope I’m wrong. But given the fact he’s barely been backed, given the fact it’s going to be very difficult for him to replicate what he achieved last year, it is a distinct possibility he’s going to be on his way from Palace.
“Given the fact that Cooper was liked by Palace, it wouldn’t be beyond the wit of man to put him into Brondby, get Brondby going for a year and then move him out of Brondby into Palace, because Blitzer is the intellectual capital behind both.”
Murphy replied: “It’s a good point.”
Cooper – who managed Odsonne Edouard at Leicester last season – had been out of work since being sacked by the Foxes in November 2024 before moving to Brondby on Tuesday.
Steve Parish has previously interviewed Steve Cooper
The Evening Standard claimed in December 2023 that Parish interviewed Cooper while he was still working at Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023, before opting to hand Roy Hodgson a new 12-month contract.
The 45-year-old was then sacked at the City Ground, sparking new rumours that he would move to Crystal Palace, before Glasner became an option and was promptly hired in February 2024.

Therefore, Jordan’s theory is certainly a credible one, with several members of the board at Selhurst Park clearly admirers of the man born in Pontypridd.
Should Cooper perform well at Brondby, this is definitely a move we can see happening.
