Manchester United's summer spending may have ended but they can still complete deals this week as other transfer windows remain open for business

Manchester United's summer transfer spending came to an end last week when the window slammed shut.
On the whole, there was a sense that United did well in the window considering that there is no European football on offer this season to boost their funds and to help attract players to the club. The attack got a serious makeover and many fans' demands to upgrade the goalkeeping department may have been answered by the arrival of Senne Lammens.
However, after the window there is always time for reflection on what could have been done better and even more deals to be completed. As such, MEN Sport has taken a look at a couple of transfer lines that are circulating around the Reds this week.
Osimhen stance
According to Tuttosport, United explored several options to improve their forward line including Galatasaray's statement arrival Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian was a player in demand for the past few summers after his spot at Napoli became untenable.
The report also claims that there is regret inside Old Trafford that United did not move for Fiorentina's Moise Kean. Instead, they bought Benjamin Sesko but did not add another player to accompany him in the forward line.
What MEN Sport says: Despite the report from Italy, we understand that United never seriously considered Osimhen in this transfer window which is rather surprising considering his record for Napoli and while at Galatasaray last season. You would imagine that the striker could be searching for a move to a top five league in the future and the Reds may well reconsider their stance then. As for Kean, he would have been a bigger gamble for United than Osimhen and whether they actually regret not pursuing him further is open to interpretation.
Perhaps United's one regret from this window could be that they have no standout alternative to Sesko in the forward line should injuries hit. But, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo ready to lead the line, that concern is diminished somewhat.
Onana's plan
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Andre Onana is on the verge of leaving United for Trabzonspor on loan and the move will be a major shift from the position that the goalkeeper found himself in at the beginning of the summer. According to TEAMtalk, Onana is heading to Turkey looking to put himself in the shop window.

It is claimed that United hope the Cameroonian will find his form again and thus be in a better position to be sold in 2026. Onana's loan spell includes no option to move permanently to Trabzonspor.
What MEN Sport says: It is certainly in United's best interests to see Onana flourish again on the pitch. Clearly, the marquee signing has not worked out and that trust is lost at Old Trafford.
However, if he performs well for Trabzonspor, there is a chance that a club in a top five league comes in for him next summer looking to purchase him. That would ultimately be the ideal scenario for both parties moving forwards.
