Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana's recent struggles continued on Tuesday night as he was unable to prevent Cameroon from suffering a 1-0 defeat to Cape Verde.
The two African nations faced each other on Tuesday night as they battled for top-spot in their World Cup qualification campaign. Onana, who is set to join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, was in the headlines once again for the wrong reasons.
In the 53rd minute, forward Rocha Livramento broke free of Cameroon's defence before driving towards Onana's goal. The United shot-stopper opted to stay on his line before diving the wrong way to concede.
The defeat now means that Cameroon are in second place in Group D with two games remaining. They face having to settle for a possible play-off spot to earn their place at next summer's World Cup.
After the game, a video circulated on social media of Onana seeming to shove a fan away following a pitch invasion. The spectator appeared to approach the goalkeeper as he made his way off the pitch, trying to record him.
Seconds later, another fan appeared to throw a water bottle at the goalkeeper as he exited the shot. The Sun have reported that a source close to Onana has confirmed that the action was driven by concerns for his own safety.
Onana, who cost United £47million, is expected to leave Old Trafford for Turkey in the next week after losing his place in Ruben Amorim's team. The United boss has opted to start Altay Bayindir in the first three Premier League games with Senne Lammens' deadline day arrival placing him further down the pecking order.

Former United stopper Ben Foster believes bringing in Lammens is a risky move from Amorim. Foster said on his Fozcast podcast: "Manchester United have got a kid from the Belgian league, who's never played for the Belgian first team.
"He's played about 60 first-team games in his career and they're expecting this guy to be able to adapt to not only the Premier League, but adapt to Manchester United as well. It just reeks of sticking a band aid (plaster) on it.
"I wouldn't expect any Premier League team to sign a goalkeeper from the Belgian league who's never played for the national team, not even a newly promoted team, and not as a starter. It's such a risk."
