Christian Eriksen agrees to sign with new club, ex-Man Utd midfielder joins several Danish stars

Christian Eriksen has been a free agent all summer, but the former Manchester United midfielder is finally closing in on a move to a new club.

It was a busy summer for Manchester United, which started with the departure of three players.

Ineos opted not to renew the contracts of Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans before a list of other players left the club.

United also welcomed five new signings to Old Trafford, but the only area Ruben Amorim didn’t strengthen was his midfield, despite the departure of Eriksen.

It is understood that Brighton’s Carlos Baleba has been identified as a future target, but United must wait until the transfer window reopens in January or next summer.

Baleba is not a like-for-like replacement for the Dane, but it is a position that will likely cause problems for Amorim throughout the season.

Christian Eriksen accepts Wolfsburg proposal

Eriksen is on the verge of joining Wolfsburg.

The Denmark international recently missed out on a call-up to the national team because he had yet to find a new club, but now he looks set to move his career to the Bundesliga.

Eriksen, 33, is closing in on a move to Wolfsburg.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet claims Eriksen has jetted to Germany to complete the deal.

Former Denmark international Peter Christiansen currently works as managing director at Wolfsburg, meaning he should find it easy to settle in his new surroundings.

This will come as a boost for Eriksen, who missed the start of the season at a time he will be trying to prove himself as a veteran ahead of the World Cup next summer.

Eriksen will also team up with international team-mates Andreas Skov Olsen, Jesper Lindstrom, Joakim Mahle and Jona Wind at Wolfsburg.

Having not played a competitive match since June, Eriksen will be eager to get back on the pitch.

Eriksen career in numbers

Having spent most of his playing career in the Premier League, Eriksen will bring a wealth of experience to the Wolfsburg dressing room.

Eriksen initially made a name for himself at Ajax before joining Tottenham in 2013. His time at Inter Milan was cut short due to health reasons, prompting a return to the Premier League as he joined Brentford.

The Dane would then join United as a free agent, before he spent three years at Old Trafford.
