Cardinals place S Joey Blount on IR, sign WR Simi Fehoko to active roster

TEMPE — The Arizona Cardinals placed safety Joey Blount on injured reserve with a neck injury on Wednesday, the team announced.

In his place on the 53-man roster, Arizona signed wide receiver Simi Fehoko to the active roster from the practice squad.

Additionally, Arizona signed linebacker Channing Tindall to the practice squad.

“It’s part of the game but it never gets easy,” Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday. “Some guys are gonna have to step up and assume his role. But I feel good about it.”

Blount exited the Cardinals’ 20-13 win over the New Orleans Saints with a concussion before it was discovered the safety was dealing with a neck issue.

The safety has been Arizona’s special teams ace in recent seasons, earning the title of captain this season.

With him sidelined, younger players like safety Kitan Crawford will be called upon more on special teams.

Fehoko finds a spot on the 53-man roster after flashing in the preseason.

Despite a pair of touchdowns, the wide receiver was among those released during initial 53-man roster cuts.

Tindall entered the league with the Miami Dolphins as a third-round pick (No. 102 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 44 games across three seasons, making 12 special teams tackles and six more on defense.

The linebacker will sport No. 47 in Arizona.
