Green Bay looked like the team to beat in the NFC North in the season opener against the Detroit Lions, and the Packers can take a big step towards carrying the mantle as a Super Bowl favorite in the NFC by beating the Commanders on Thursday night.
After all, Washington boasts an elite and rising young quarterback in Jayden Daniels, one of the more complete rosters in the sport, and are looking to take a big step after making a surprise run to the NFC Championship Game last season.
A statement win isn’t the only thing at stake for the Packers, in Week 2.

It has been a while since Washington won at Lambeau Field. Decades, even.
As PackersWire analyst Brandon Carwile points out, Washington hasn’t won in Green Bay since 1988, a streak the Packers would love to continue.
“The last time Washington won in Green Bay, Doug Williams was their starting quarterback,” Carwile writes. “Since then, the Packers have defended their home turf six times in a row against the Commanders. Despite the long drought, this Commanders team is not one to be slept on. It would not be shocking if they march into Lambeau and handle their business on Thursday.
