NFL fans unhappy with star quarterback for behavior during national anthem

NFL fans are unhappy with Chicago Bears second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and feel like he was disrespectful during the national anthem Monday night.

Williams was caught on camera talking with a teammate during the national anthem ahead of the Bears vs. Vikings game. You can check out the video here.

While Caleb Williams was captured on the broadcast talking with a teammate, Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy looked straight ahead in silence.

One fan said he made a decision about who he would want to lead his team after seeing the way the two quarterbacks acted during the national anthem.

“Caleb talking during the national anthem and JJ locked in. All I needed to see,” he said.

Several other fans piled on, attacking Williams as a player, as well as for the way he acted during the anthem.

“Caleb is garbage; why he went 1 overall is mind blowing. Sucks as a qb and no class,” one fan said.

Added another: “Caleb Williams is an overrated, self-entitled brat. Not a fan and will never be a fan. It’s an automatic ‘root against.‘”

While there were plenty of fans criticizing Caleb Williams, others defended him.

“Who cares what Caleb or any other person does during the anthem. Some people were getting a hotdog during it but no one is talking about them. Leave the kid alone and mind your own business,” a fan said.

J.J. McCarthy ultimately got the last laugh as the Vikings rallied for a 27-24 victory over the Bears after falling behind 17-6 in the second half.

McCarthy was 13-for-20 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception in the win.

Williams completed 21 of 35 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown in the defeat.

Both quarterbacks also rushed for a touchdown during the game.

Up next, the Vikings will host the Falcons, while the Bears will play at Detroit.
