The Detroit Lions are going up against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, and one Lions star is sending Ben Johnson a message.

The NFL season is in full swing, which is a good thing, but the Detroit Lions area already dealing with some problems. Mainly, it’s that the team struggled big time against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, September 7, and now, there are questions about how strong this team is going to be during the 2025-26 season.

Of course, it’s early, so don’t lose too much sleep over the Lions falling so hard to the Packers in that 13-27 spread. Now, it’s about the future, and the Lions are looking ahead to their next game, which happens to be the Chicago Bears, former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson’s new team, on Sunday, September 14, at Ford Field.

It’s great that the Lions will have a homefield advantage for this matchup, but there’s going to have to be on top of things to win this game. Johnson and the Bears lost to the Vikings on Monday, September 8, but their team looked strong, including quarterback Caleb Williams. Now, one Lions star has a message for Johnson ahead of the much-anticipated matchup.

Detroit Lions Player Has Not-So Nice Message for Ben Johnson

If the Detroit Lions want to be contenders in the NFC North, they’re going to have to win this weekend’s game against the Bears. Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown says that the Lions are ready and will serve up a fantastic game.

Speaking on his “St. Brown Podcast” on Monday, September 8, St. Brown talked about the upcoming matchup. His would should send shivers down Johnson’s spine.

His four-word message to Johnson was, “We all booing him.” Ouch. But, St. Brown is a nice guy, so perhaps it was partly in jest.

For full context, he said, “Week 2 is going to be so crazy. I promise you. It’s going to be so electric. But as soon as Ben (Johnson) walks in there, we’re booing him. I don’t give a … We all booing him.”

Chicago Bears receiver Rome Odunze was a guest on the show, and he said, “Yeah, he (Ben Johnson) said it’s going to be lit, I’m not going to lie. And I’m here for it.”

Johnson led Detroit to having a top-ranked offense in 2024, and following the season’s end, the Chicago Bears snagged Johnson to replace Matt Eberflus as their new head coach. Let’s cross our fingers that the Lions can pull this one off.

Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell Talks Bears Game

Campbell is also ready for this matchup. “It’s the same thing. He knows what we’re about, we know what he’s about and because of that, you’re going to play that game a little bit,” Campbell said in a conference on Monday, September 8. “But the game doesn’t matter if you don’t master the basics inside the game. That’s what we have to get back to. We have to worry about ourselves right now and just home in on the little things.”

It’s interesting that he points out the basics, because the Lions should already really have those down. But, the reality is that they don’t, at least not yet. Either way, Campbell says the team will be ready this weekend, so Johnson better watch out.

“We’re going in and getting ready to play Chicago. We’re going to win this game,” Campbell said. “We have to. We have to find a way to clean things up and do what we got to do. And they’re going to try to do the same thing, just like every week.”

So, the Detroit Lions are ready to go up against a familiar face in Johnson and the Bears. Let’s cross our fingers that they can pull this one off.
