Spadaro: Howie Roseman remains active

Some of the moves that have been made ...

**August 18: Acquired WR John Metchie III and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Texans in exchange for TE Harrison Bryant and a 2026 fifth-round pick**

What it means: Metchie is learning the offense and working to contribute to the offense, and in the meantime, he's been able to help on special teams. Metchie has the speed and explosiveness to aid the passing game. He's been able to make his imprint early on teams.

**August 24: Acquired QB Sam Howell and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Vikings in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick**

What it means: Howell has already made his impact – he is the No. 2 quarterback with Tanner McKee sidelined. Howell has put in his time learning the playbook and the Eagles are giving him enough time to work on timing and chemistry with the offense. McKee will go to No. 2 when he's healthy, and Howell will give the Eagles three quarterbacks who have won games in the NFL. He is a valuable player here.

**August 25: Agreed to acquire T Fred Johnson from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick**

What it means: Johnson was a big addition to the offensive line room and he provides depth at both tackle positions. Johnson is a perfect fit in Jeff Stoutland's scheme and earned all kinds of trust last year with his good play.

**August 25: Acquired a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Packers in exchange for T/G Darian Kinnard**

What it means: More draft capital, and Roseman continued to use some of that capital to bolster the roster in the weeks that followed the trade of Kinnard, a reserve in the run to Super Bowl LIX.

**August 27: Claimed G/C Willie Lampkin off waivers from the Rams**

What it means: Lampkin is currently on Injured Reserve, so he will be given some time to develop in the offensive line room. Signed by the Rams after the 2025 NFL Draft, Lampkin has great athletic ability and promise as an interior lineman, a project for the Eagles to mold.

**September 5: Signed unrestricted free agent DE Za'Darius Smith**

What it means: The veteran defensive end practiced on Wednesday and the Eagles are hopeful that he can contribute to the team's edge presence and the pass rush up and down the line of scrimmage. He has been around the league long enough to know how to fit in and provide depth and talent, and the Eagles are going to see how he comes along during the course of the season.

**September 9: Acquired RB/KR Tank Bigsby from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick**

What it means: The Eagles like Bigsby as a running back and as a kickoff return man as they continued this week to shape the roster. Bigsby is a 5-11, 215-pounder who is under contract through the 2026 season and he will work in the supremely talented running back room. Bigsby is with the team at practice, and let's see how long it is before the Eagles incorporate him into game action.

What's next? With Roseman and his 24-hour, 365-day obsession, it's never over until it's over, and, well, it's really, truly never over when it comes to building the Eagles' roster for now and the future.
