Journalist makes shock Jose Mourinho to Leeds United claim

Leeds United signed 10 players this summer, and many would consider this a successful window. But the club’s fans were disappointed with how it ended.

The expectation was that an attacker could be added to the team on deadline day, but no one came through the door at Elland Road. Leeds tried a last ditch attempt to sign Fulham star Harry Wilson but the deal failed. Daniel Farke had been asking for reinforcements in attack since pre-season, but the team ended up giving him two free agents and Noah Okafor.

Seeing how the club have started the season, the need for some firepower is painfully obvious. Leeds have played four games and have scored just two goals. Their defence and midfield have shown they deserve to be at this level, but the attack is sorely lacking.

When Leeds were promoted, some shocking rumours came out that Daniel Farke could be on the chopping block. The reasoning behind such rumours was that the German had a poor record at the top flight level. Jose Mourinho was one of the coaches linked with taking over Leeds, but nothing materialized in the summer. Club chairman Paraag Marathe even backed the German publicly.

Now, journalist Alex Crook has suggested that Leeds United could be a destination for Mourinho after he was sacked from Fenerbahce. Crook thinks that the Whites could be one of the teams who lose their manager down the line this season:

”Yeah i think its a pretty open secret that Jose Mourinho sees a return to English football.” he said on TalkSport.

”I never felt like he was really at home in Turkey. I think he feels he is suited to English football, and maybe has unfinished business here after how it ended at Old Trafford”

”I think there might be a few managers looking nervously over their shoulders after the first casualty of the season in Nuno Espirito Santo”

Crook added that Leeds could be a potential destination.

”West Ham obviously have been largely disappointing since Graham Potter came in.”

“The other one that springs to mind is Leeds and obviously there’s reservations about whether Daniel Farke can cut it in the Premier League.”
