Jayden Daniels opened his second NFL season with another strong performance, leading the Washington Commanders to a 21-6 victory over the New York Giants in Week 1. The Commanders quarterback completed 19 of 30 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown while adding 68 rushing yards, once again showing why he is considered one of the league’s top dual-threat quarterbacks. His ability to impact the game both through the air and on the ground proved decisive, keeping New York’s defense off balance throughout the contest.

Washington will now turn its focus to Thursday night’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Ahead of the game, however, questions surfaced about Daniels’ health after he appeared on the Week 2 injury report with a wrist issue. Those concerns have now been addressed heading into the primetime meeting.

Jayden Daniels Cleared to Play, Packers Managing Injuries

Jayden Daniels appeared on Washington’s estimated injury report Monday with a right wrist problem, though he was listed as a full participant in practice. That raised questions about whether the Commanders might be cautious with their young quarterback on a short week. Head coach Dan Quinn quickly calmed speculation, saying he had “zero concerns” about Daniels’ status (via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero).

On Wednesday, Pelissero later confirmed the quarterback has been removed from the injury report, clearing him to start on Thursday night without limitation.

“Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (right wrist) is off the injury report and good to go,” Pelissero wrote on X.

The Packers, meanwhile, are dealing with several injury issues of their own. According to Pelissero, multiple starters are listed as questionable for Week 2, including defensive end Micah Parsons (back), right tackle Zach Tom (oblique), left guard Aaron Banks (ankle/groin), and cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee).

Parsons was in a similar situation last week but still played on a limited basis and recorded a sack, showing he can remain effective even when not at full strength. Green Bay’s depth will be tested again with a short turnaround and several key players uncertain to go.

Matchup Preview: Jayden Daniels vs. Packers’ New-Look Defense

Daniels enters Thursday night facing a Packers defense that may be shorthanded at several positions. His combination of passing efficiency and rushing ability already proved difficult to contain in Week 1, and he has shown in the past he can handle pressure against strong defensive fronts. If Green Bay’s top contributors are limited or unavailable, Daniels’ ability to extend plays and exploit mismatches could give Washington a clear edge.

With his growing confidence and momentum from an opening-week win, he appears well-positioned to deliver another standout performance on primetime.
