Peacock, NBC Sports Score 26.5 Million Viewers For NFL ‘Sunday Night Football’ Opener

NBCUniversal’s NBC Sports and Peacock streaming service generated a combined 26.5 million viewers for the first Sunday night game of the 20th season of “NFL Sunday Night Football” for the 2025-26 season.
The game, which featured the Buffalo Bills’ improbable 41-40 comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens, saw a total audience delivery (TAD) of 28.3 million viewers, which measures simultaneous viewing across multiple platforms. It was the second most-watched NFL Kickoff Game in history, and most-watched SNF content since 2022.
On the Peacock platform, the average minute streaming audience reached 5 million, up 8% from the 4.6 million last year. It was the second most-simul-streamed NBC NFL game ever. It was also the most-streamed Sunday night NFL game ever with 3 million average minute views.
Linear broadcast still remains the dominant distribution for the NFL, with 85% of Sunday Night Football viewers watching on legacy broadcast, pay-TV, down from 93% in 2022.
NBC and Peacock will distribute Super Bowl LX from Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, on Feb. 8, 2026.
