Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has been in the NBA for a couple of seasons now, and he has learned a lot about what it takes to be a star.
That means that his opinion of previous icons of the league has evolved.
He was recently asked if he’d choose Kobe Bryant or Tim Duncan, and Wembanyama had to think long and hard about it.
His final answer was non-committal.
“Tim Duncan or Kobe? Tough question. Probably Kobe, if all-time. Actually, I don’t know,” Wembanyama said.
Wemby says Kobe is ‘probably’ better than Tim Duncan all-time

No one can blame Wembanyama for being unsure of who he would choose.
Tim Duncan spent 19 years in the NBA and averaged 19.0 points and 10.8 rebounds during that time.
He is a Hall of Famer, a 15-time All-Star, and a five-time champion.
All these years later, he is still one of the biggest heroes in Spurs history.
Wembanyama hopes that someday people will talk about him in the same ways they talk about Duncan.
But Bryant is another master of the game and spent his entire career with San Antonio’s rival, the Los Angeles Lakers.
He averaged 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during his 20 seasons and was an 18-time All-Star and five-time champion as well.
Bryant and Duncan were radically different players, but they were both hugely successful and impactful.
Wembanyama loves what both brought to the game and knows their value.
Choosing between these two players is incredibly hard, and Wembanayama isn’t the only person who isn’t sure of the answer.
