NBA icon Tracy McGrady played in several All-Star Games throughout his Hall of Fame 15-year career. He was named an All-Star seven times and had quite a few memorable moments from one of the most highly anticipated events of the NBA season.
McGrady may have been through a lot during his multiple All-Star appearances, but he’s never experienced what he believes the NBA has in store for this season’s festivities. The two-time scoring champion dropped some big news on a recent guest appearance on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast — one that prompted an apology to NBC for preempting their announcement.
“I don’t know if you guys know, but I had a conversation with NBC,” McGrady said on “Gil’s Arena.” “Sorry, NBC, if I’m not supposed to be telling this, but I think they’re going to have a 1-on-1 at All-Star Weekend this year.”

This is not the first time there have been rumors about a potential 1-on-1 tournament during the All-Star Weekend, but based on his statement, McGrady revealed that he got his information right from the source.
With the NBA commencing its new broadcasting deals this coming season, NBC and Peacock have been named as the new home of NBA All-Star. The network will broadcast this season’s festivities, which the city of Los Angeles will host at the L.A. Clippers’ Intuit Dome from Feb. 13 to 15, 2026.
McGrady transitioned into broadcasting after his retirement in 2013. The 46-year-old was recently announced as a studio analyst for NBC for the 2025-26 season, and it appears that he’s been receiving insider information already.
McGrady did not provide the details of the supposed 1-on-1 tournament, but this is a prospect that will surely excite the fans. Whether or not McGrady was supposed to divulge this crucial bit of information, however, is another matter entirely.
