Ange Postecoglou is confident he’s the man to help Nottingham Forest take the next step in its resurgence by winning trophies.
The former Socceroos coach, who was sacked by Tottenham in June despite leading the London club to Europa League glory, is back in the English Premier League after taking over at Forest from the axed Nuno Espirito Santo.
A club steeped in tradition after successive European Cup (now known as the UEFA Champions League) triumphs in 1979 and 1980 under the legendary Brian Clough, Forest is in the midst of a revival after returning to the English Premier League in 2022.

Under Espirito Santo, the club finished seventh last season, which led to them securing a berth in the 2025-26 Europa League.
However, ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis isn’t satisfied and has hired 60-year-old serial winner Postecoglou to boosts Forest’s chances of again lifting major silverware.
“I get a sense that the club wants more and that’s certainly what I want, so I think it’s a really exciting time,” Postecoglou told Forest TV.
“I understand the history of this football club and I understand there’s a responsibility there, and I’ll bear that responsibility.
“I’m honoured and I’m humbled, but more importantly I’m determined to make sure this football club takes its rightful place.

“I’ve worked myself into this position over the past 28 years because I’ve never put any limits on what I want to achieve.
“Wherever I’ve been, I’ve been fortunate to have success which has allowed me to take that next step.
“I love winning things. That’s what I’ve done.”
Postecoglou, whose first match in charge of Forest is an away clash against Arsenal on Saturday night (AEST), is ready to implement his “own ideas” about football at Forest.
“It’s no secret I like my teams to attack, (and) I love my teams to score goals,” the former South Melbourne, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, Yokohama F. Marinos and Celtic head coach said.

“That is sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my team to play that way is because I love winning things and that is what I want to do here.
“This club has real ambitions and that’s really important to me. We’ve got an exciting squad. “Playing against (Forest) last season, you could tell there was a really strong unity across the club and you want to be a part of that because you know that’s what’s required to be successful.”
Postecoglou has brought his coaching staff from Tottenham, including former Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak and ex-Central Coast Mariners mentor Nick Montgomery, with him to Forest.
