'I looked at': Jacob Ramsey impressed with what Eddie Howe has done with three Newcastle players

Jacob Ramsey is convinced Eddie Howe can make him a better player at Newcastle United.

A busy summer on the recruitment front saw Newcastle United bring Ramsey to St James’ Park from Aston Villa.

Indeed, Newcastle paid around £39million for Ramsey, although the deal could reportedly reach up to £43million if the criteria for various add-ons are met.

The 24-year-old has replaced Sean Longstaff in the Newcastle United squad. It, on paper at least, looks a fine addition to the ranks.

Ramsey is already a hugely experienced Premier League player but could still surely improve under the Newcastle United manager.

He certainly seems to think so.

Jacob Ramsey speaks about Eddie Howe

The former Villa star was speaking to Premier League reporter Andy Sixsmith.

He revealed that he looked at the work Howe has done with Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall on Tyneside.

“Since Eddie joined Newcastle I haven’t heard one person speak badly of him,” he said.

“When I found out Eddie Howe wanted me in his team, I immediately thought Eddie Howe will improve me.”

All three players have become England internationals under his watch and Ramsey will hope to follow suit.

Dan Burn, while much older, has also become a Three Lions player under Howe.

At Bournemouth, he did the same with Lewis Cook and Callum Wilson.

Ramsey has played for England at U21 level and won the European Championship for that age group alongside Gordon in 2023.

How Newcastle United feel about Jacob Ramsey

Ramsey impressed on his Newcastle debut and will hope to shake off the ankle injury he suffered against Leeds by the time Wolves come to town on Saturday as the Premier League returns.

While these are early days, he looked bright in difficult circumstances against Liverpool on his debut.

He also created a good chance for William Osula away at Leeds, during what was otherwise a rather insipid Newcastle performance.

In fact, people behind the scenes at Newcastle believe that Ramsey has the potential to start for England.

The early signs have been promising, now it’s time to build on that.
