Victor Wembanyama, Spurs holding tryouts for European-style fan section

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama reportedly came up with the idea to create a new group of active fans. The Spurs have announced plans for a tryout for the new "supporters’ section," scheduled for Sunday.

San Antonio Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama is calling for more energetic fan support at Frost Bank Center next season.

The Spurs have announced a tryout for a new “supporters’ section,” scheduled for Sunday.

The idea came directly from Wembanyama, inspired by the atmosphere he has experienced at soccer and basketball games in Europe and around the world.

Wembanyama is even expected to attend the tryout himself, scouting fans for the new section, which will feature “nonstop chants, drums, flags, and passion.”

"It's been an idea," Wembanyama said. "And now it's a project."

"If this group of ultras reaches its full potential, I have no doubt that it's going to help us win games in the future for sure," Wembanyama added.

"I mean, the 41 regular season games at home this season, that's 41 opportunities for them to push in the fourth quarter and give us that extra energy and that second wind that can give us the win."

The Spurs are looking for dedicated, high-energy fans who can commit to attending at least 75% of home games, while fully engaging in chants, rituals, and spirited support — all with passion and respect.

Membership in the new club costs $999 and includes perks such as discounts and opportunities to meet surprise special guests.
