“A great pain” – Director gutted over losing player to Nottingham Forest, will be Ange’s gain

Dan Ndoye has begun his stay at Nottingham Forest quite well, having scored and assisted once in his first three Premier League games.

The Swiss winger came with a reputation of getting key goals, having scored Bologna’s winner in the Coppa Italia final last season.

It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old fulfils the expectations that come with his transfer fee, but his absence is still being felt at Bologna, who also lost Sam Beukema to Napoli

The Italian club’s sporting director Giovanni Sartori spoke to Tuttomercatoweb late on Tuesday. He was asked which of the two transfers was more painful.

He said: “Both, a great pain, but it was necessary.”

Ndoye’s loss to Nottingham Forest will hurt Bologna as the season wears on, as they have not directly replaced the winger. Beukema was replaced by Martin Vitik, who joined from Sparta Prague.

The Switzerland international contributed to 15 goals across two league seasons for the club. Beyond that, he also showed his versatility by playing out wide, at wing-back and at centre-forward.

Their loss is Nottingham Forest’s gain. With Nuno Espirito Santo gone, a versatile, quick and effective player like Ndoye will prove very important for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking style.
