Kings guard believed to be a Hall of Famer if he wins EuroBasket 2025

NBA writer Tim Bontemps believes Dennis Schroder could become a Hall of Famer if he leads Germany to a EuroBasket 2025 title.

New Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder has had a pretty good NBA career so far, but a casual NBA fan would never think of him as a Hall of Famer one day.

Although, if you look at his international career with the German national team, you might think otherwise.

NBA writer Tim Bontemps of ESPN stated on The Hoop Collective podcast that Schroder will make it in if he leads Germany to glory in EuroBasket 2025, saying that despite this shocking many fans, his international resume would be enough to make him a Hall of Famer.

"Dennis Schroder is going to make the Hall of Fame, and I think he's definitely going to make the Hall of Fame if they win this tournament, which is going to cause people to go berserk," Bontemps said. "... It's a World Basketball Hall of Fame of all levels."

"When you look at Dennis Schroder's international career, I think if they win this tournament, he's going to make the Hall of Fame eventually as an international entry, which will, I'm sure, cause people to go crazy," Bontemps added. "But he's got a pretty damn good international resume if they win this thing."

Schroder led Germany to a EuroBasket bronze medal in 2022, and a year later won the FIBA World Cup, also becoming the MVP of the tournament with some epic performances.

If Germany wins EuroBasket 2025, Schroder would also be a strong contender alongside Franz Wagner to win the MVP of this tournament, as he's averaging 20.1 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds so far in the tournament.

Co-host of the podcast Brian Windhorst also pointed out that most of the players who have won MVP at the World Cup in modern history have made the Hall of Fame. If we look at the winners from 1990 onwards, there is only one player who hasn't made it in among the ones who have retired: Dejan Bodiroga (1998).
