The international break is at an end and Aston Villa need to kickstart their season in a big, bad way.
Villa have picked up a single point from their three Premier League matches of 2025/26, losing twice after a goalless draw with Newcastle United. They’re the only team in the Premier League and EFL – the only team in the top seven tiers of English football, supposedly, though I can’t be arsed to check – without a goal.
In Villa’s fourth game of the season, manager Unai Emery will be looking to inflict Everton’s first home defeat at the brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Toffees have picked up two wins after losing to promoted Leeds United at Elland Road, defeating Brighton & Hove Albion at home and then Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux before the players headed off for international duty.
What time does Everton v Villa kick off?
For the second time this season, Emery’s Villa play in the traditional Saturday slot.
There won’t be that many of them this season, with the Premier League schedule set to be affected by a nice big pile of Thursday evening matches in the Europa League.
Villa’s first visit to Everton’s shiny new stadium will kick off at 3.00pm on Saturday 13th September.
Where to watch Everton v Villa in the UK
As a 3.00pm kick-off on Saturday, Villa’s game at Everton is not available to watch live in the UK.
Football matches cannot be shown live between 2.45pm and 5.15pm under a broadcast blackout rule that’s been in place since the 1960s to protect attendances at lower league and non-league games.
The blackout remains in place under the current Premier League domestic TV rights agreement, which will be reviewed in 2029.
