NFL Week 2 Power Rankings: Eagles maintain top spot, Bills close behind

Last week’s rankings in parentheses.

1. Philadelphia Eagles (1). Jalen Hurts should be talked about more as one of the game’s best quarterbacks.

2. Buffalo Bills (3). Still coming to grips with the fact the Bills won that game. The defense, obviously, has a lot to clean up.

3. Green Bay Packers (7). The trade for Micah Parsons paid immediate dividends – the Packers are Super Bowl contenders.

4. Baltimore Ravens (4). Just a disaster of a loss – but the Ravens are still crazy talented. The Bills should expect to see them again.

5. Washington Commanders (5). “Thursday Night Football” kicks off with a bang on Amazon Prime in Week 2 – Packers vs. Commanders.

6. Los Angeles Chargers (14). If quarterback Justin Herbert continues to play the way he did against the Chiefs, the Chargers are going places.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (2). We can’t reasonably put the Chiefs ahead of the Chargers, but we also can’t drop Kansas City out of the top 10.

8. Detroit Lions (6). Is losing both of their coordinators in the offseason a bigger problem that we realized? After Week 1, it’s a fair question.

9. Denver Broncos (8). It wasn’t a great showing for Bo Nix (two interceptions), but the defense is legit.

10. Los Angeles Rams (9). You have to think the offense will figure it out, and when it does, look out, because the defense is great.

11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10). A solid divisional road win puts the Buccaneers on the right track.

12. Minnesota Vikings (13). Kevin O’Connell is one of the league’s best coaches.

13. San Francisco 49ers (20). Solid road win at Seattle is a nice start, but now quarterback Brock Purdy is banged up.

14. Cincinnati Bengals (12). They won, and that’s what matters, but they didn’t look great doing it.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers (16). Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock, but the defense struggled against Justin Fields.

16. Arizona Cardinals (17). Had to grind out a road win against a bad Saints team.

17. Dallas Cowboys (18). Put up a good fight against the defending Super Bowl champions. CeeDee Lamb has to make a catch.

18. Houston Texans (11). Fantasy dud of the week: Wide receiver Nico Collins – three catches, 25 yards.

19. Las Vegas Raiders (24). They wrote off Geno Smith in his new home, but he didn’t write back.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars (26). Travis Etienne (143 yards) led a rushing attack that piled up 200 yards against Carolina.

21. Seattle Seahawks (19). Underwhelming debuts for both Sam Darnold (150 passing yards) and Cooper Kupp (two catches, 15 yards) in a home loss.

22. Chicago Bears (15). That’s a demoralizing home loss on “Monday Night Football” to a division rival, especially considering Chicago led 17-6 in the third quarter.

23. Atlanta Falcons (23). How can a team with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier be so bad at running the football (28 carries, 69 yards)?

24. Indianapolis Colts (31). The biggest riser of the week after embarrassing the Dolphins, although that might say more about Miami than the Colts.

25. New York Jets (25). Losing to Aaron Rodgers has got to sting, but the Jets were respectable in Week 1. The Bills can’t treat Sunday’s game as a cake walk.

26. New England Patriots (21). We wrote last week about how the Patriots must be the most overrated team in the league. Through Week 1, consider that take vindicated.

27. Carolina Panthers (27). Ugly showing for quarterback Bryce Young. Ugly showing for the defense. Ugly showing all around against Jacksonville.

28. Tennessee Titans (28). Got to finish in the red zone: The Titans were 0 for 2 against the Broncos, which led to producing just four field goals.

29. Miami Dolphins (22). Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier are officially on the hot seat after Miami straight up no-showed Week 1.

30. New York Giants (29). The calls to turn things over to Jaxson Dart are only going to grow louder. How long before Brian Daboll turns to his rookie quarterback?

31. Cleveland Browns (30). Actually played a tight game against the Bengals, but there are no moral victories.

32. New Orleans Saints (32). Asking Spencer Rattler to throw the ball 46 times is not a recipe for success.
