Arsenal player offered to Bayern Munich – Agency attempt to build transfer revealed

Arsenal’s Fábio Vieira joined Hamburg SV on loan with an option to buy on deadline day.

The attacking midfielder is in contention to make his debut against Bayern Munich on Saturday, and Bild say he wanted to join the Bundesliga winners in the summer window.

Vieira returned to Arsenal after spending last season on loan at FC Porto and was aware he wasn’t going to feature regularly under Mikel Arteta.

Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury during the Club World Cup and is set for a long spell on the sidelines.

This forced the Bavarian club to consider whether to bring in a new attacking midfielder.

According to Bild, the 25-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had offer him to Bayern Munich, along with Marco Asensio, who left Paris Saint-Germain for Fenerbahçe.

It’s claimed Vincent Kompany’s side were more interested in Asensio but didn’t go ahead due to his high salary, while negotiations for Vieira never materialised despite Gestifute’s [Mendes’ agency] efforts to build a transfer.

The Gunners man was also on VfB Stuttgart’s radar before he joined Hamburg on loan. Bild report negotiations with the latter only became concrete in the final week of the transfer window.
