The two words Ange Postecoglou shouted in his first Nottingham Forest session that's very…

Ange Postecoglou’s tenure at Nottingham Forest is well underway after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week.

Evangelos Marinakis has moved quickly to appoint Ange Postecoglou as Nuno’s successor, with his first game coming away to Arsenal this weekend.

Nottingham Forest fans were really impressed with Postecoglou’s first interview, as he insisted that his style of play is based solely around winning.

Now, the club have just released footage of his first training session at Wilford Lane, and it’s pretty telling about the philosophy he’s looking to implement.

Ange Postecoglou’s first Nottingham Forest training session reveals a lot

Bits of Postecoglou’s first session have been published on Nottingham Forest’s YouTube channel, and already, it’s clear what style of play he’s trying to implement.

The intensity is evident, and there are lots of clips where the players are working on passing sequences, with a possession-based approach clearly in mind.

Perhaps most interestingly, around the four-minute mark, Postecoglou can be heard shouting ‘good pressing’ followed by a clap.

Under Nuno, Forest players were used to operating in a low-block, so there’s set to be a huge stylistic change as they now must up their fitness levels to win the ball high up the pitch.

Ange Postecoglou will have to be wary of injuries

Nuno’s philosophy was very pragmatic and perhaps not the most intense style, but that really helped to prevent injuries.

Postecoglou’s high-pressure approach is naturally more demanding on the body, and his Tottenham Hotspur team suffered a lot of muscle injuries last term.

That’ll be something he and his coaches will have to be wary of, especially in the early stages of his tenure.

The Australian head coach will have to gradually implement his tactics, otherwise, there is a risk of picking up injuries.
