The Dallas Cowboys certainly made some headlines on Wednesday morning with a move that is so peculiar that Philadelphia Eagles fans can be heard thousands of miles away laughing.
It was reported on Wednesday that free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney came in for a workout with the Cowboys. Dallas reporter Mike Fisher shared late Wednesday night that the team is not done considering signing Clowney and could be working on the dollar amount for a potential deal on Thursday.

The former number one overall pick of the Houston Texans back in 2014 has enjoyed an 11-year career with three Pro Bowl appearances, but was last in it back in 2018. Since playing his first five seasons in Houston, Clowney has played for five different teams with 26 total sacks in those six seasons, compared to his 29 in his first five years.
Cowboys' gamble on Clowney will not play off, which is okay with Eagles fans
This could be another sign that the Cowboys are focused on stopping the run after the team traded star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. They need to find a replacement for Parsons, and they might turn to Clowney for that.
If this is the direction they want to go, Eagles fans won't stop them. Clowney is 32 years old and has never had double-digit sacks in a season. Plus, the Cowboys' pass rusher struggled against the Eagles in their 24-20 weather-delayed loss with only one sack on Jalen Hurts. All that talk about stopping the run didn't help matters either, as they gave up 158 yards.
This move would truly be puzzling for the Cowboys as they are getting older with their signings and acquisitions. Why they feel this is the direction to go is baffling, but amazing at the same time.
The Eagles see this as an opportunity for the Cowboys to keep sinking to new lows. They were able to run all over them and despite five quarterback hits on Hurts, the pass rush was not there for Dallas.

If the Cowboys want to keep adding older players, they are more than welcome to do so. The Eagles can find more productive older players like Za'Darius Smith who actually can rack up over 10 sacks in a season.
