Jonathan Kuminga ‘Anticipated’ To Make Big Contract Decision

Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors have been dancing around a deal for weeks now, but no progress has been made.

There have been a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation, and some valid concerns from fans.

But now, progress is being made.

A new report says that Kuminga will agree to the qualifying offer that has been on the table for weeks.

“Kuminga signing the qualifying offer remains the anticipated outcome. The deadline to do so is Oct. 1. Meanwhile, Al Horford and the rest of the veterans in Golden State’s waiting room are quietly pleading for clarity,” per Monte Poole.

The Warriors and Kuminga only have a few weeks to agree to the terms of the one-year qualifying deal.

It won’t be a big one, and it definitely won’t keep Kuminga in the Bay Area for long.

In fact, most people feel that this qualifying deal promises that Kuminga will seek a new home in the league, either before the trade deadline or next summer when he becomes a free agent.

Kuminga might be signing on the dotted line with the Warriors, but he certainly isn’t planning to stay with them long-term.

There is always the chance that somehow Kuminga feels better with the Warriors in the new season.

Perhaps Steve Kerr finds a reliable place for him in the rotation, and it is a very beneficial arrangement for both.

But all signs point to Kuminga agreeing to this deal and then leaving as soon as he can.

The Warriors have plans beyond this, so they want the contract official quickly.
