Wilfried Gnonto gives honest admission on Leeds United ”disaster”

Leeds United had a mixed transfer window according to the fans, some would give it a good rating and others would say it was a terrible window. Most of the opinions are based on the final weeks where the Whites failed to bring in any targets.

Leeds got off to a good start during the transfer window, they got in so many new signings early. They bolstered the midfield and defence first bringing in some quality and depth. Jaka Bijol, Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff all arrived for reasonable fees. Many fans thought Leeds kept the big spending for big name targets later in the window.

The Whites then proceeded to miss out on Igor Paixao, Rodrigo Muniz and Bilal El Khannouss. Leeds did manage to add Noah Okafor and James Justin late in the window, but failed to add the attacker Daniel Farke desperately needed.

Leeds fans’ anger was at its peak on transfer deadline day where many expected at least one signing. The club made a last ditch attempt to sign Harry Wilson, but ultimately failed. Daniel Farke did not get his attacking reinforcements, which raised questions about the ownership and their ambitions.

Leeds star Willy Gnonto has been speaking to BBC Radio Leeds‘ Adam Pope this week. He gave his thoughts on how the transfer window ended for the club:

“I think it’s stronger. I think we got some good players, with a bit of time to work on our tactics and stuff and to get to know each other a bit more.

“I feel like we can just get better from now. I think every position is better, to be fair.

“You can just look at the back, look at the players we got. You have a player who came in and started already, so I can say that at the back we improved.

“Midfield, we improved. We have some top players there as well. You talk about Noah, but we have Dom, we have Lukas, we have so many players up front as well.

“You know, Jack [Harrison] coming back. Everyone is ready to go and ready to help the team.”

Leeds have four points from three games this season, and face Fulham this weekend.
