Following a strong pre-season showing for new Liverpool right back Jeremie Frimpong and then a stunning goal in the Community Shield to officially open his account with the Reds, a hamstring injury in the Premier League opener against Bournemouth has seen the Dutch fullback sidelined since.
In his absence, and with fellow right back Conor Bradley still working back to full fitness, it fell to Hungarian international midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai to fill in—which he did to rave reviews in the following two league matches. Long-term, though, Szoboszlai’s talents will be needed in midfield.
It’s good news for manager Arne Slot and the Reds, then, that it appears Frimpong has rejoined full team training this week, with the player benefitting from the September international break that has given him more time to recover without having to worry about missing any further club matches.
Frimpong was seen taking part in team training on Wednesday, and the expectation following that will be for him to be fully involved again on Thursday and Friday, setting up a situation where he will likely at least be on the bench when the Reds face Burnley on Sunday in their fourth league game.
Newly signed superstar striker Alexander Isak also had his first training sessions on Wednesday, but having missed pre-season with Newcastle it’s likely he would also start on the bench Sunday if ready. Meanwhile, Stefan Bajcetic has been in solo training this week as he continues his recovery.
