Everton manager David Moyes on track to achieve his Liverpool ‘dream’ with extraordinary feat

Everton are doing something at the moment which could see David Moyes achieve his wish of challenging Liverpool.

The resurgence under Moyes has seen a remarkable change since Sean Dyche was in charge.

After rejoining, Moyes has set demands at Everton as the 62-year-old is once again the face of the club.

The plan is to get the Toffees challenging for the European places once again, with the Scot knowing this is what Evertonians deserve after years of torment.

Currently, Everton are going the right way about it, and Moyes’ side are doing something better than anyone else at the moment.

Everton have won the most Premier League points since start of May

Following an excellent start to this Premier League campaign, the Toffees have continued the momentum of last season.

This is shown in the numbers, as since the start of May, not one side has won more points than Everton have, with the Blues also the second highest goal scorers since that month, with 13 scored.

Team Points won

Everton 16

Chelsea 16

Arsenal 13

Man City 13

Moyes has brought back the feel-good factor around the club, as five wins from their last seven top-flight games is some achievement.

Everton have come a long way since Moyes returned, as it’s been an extraordinary eight-month turnaround, and the club are firmly on track to achieve the Blues manager’s aim.

David Moyes’ Everton ‘dream’ is to close the gap on Liverpool

As things stand then, it can’t be argued that the Toffees are one of the most in-form sides in the league at the moment, and they’ve made a strong push for Europe to start the season.

It’s still early days, but the platform is there for Moyes to go above and beyond, and after his pre-match press conference for the Merseyside Derby in February, his hope of closing the gap with Liverpool is starting to come to fruition.

“At West Ham, we had to stay up, and in the first year, I was asking, “How am I going to do this?”. Then the next year, we ended up getting into Europe,” Moyes said.

“I don’t know if it is a dream, but the idea is to try to have that as my goal.

“I think the gap between the two teams (Everton and Liverpool) at the moment is probably as big as it’s been for a long time.

“I have to try and bridge the gap and start bringing the two clubs closer together. I need to bring my club closer to their club if I can.”

Everton impressed Arne Slot when they met last season, as even the red side might be just slightly looking over their shoulder.

They are still a long way away from bridging the gap, but the Toffees have every chance this campaign to make a statement.
