Jamie Carragher And Gary Neville Disagree As They Predict The Result Of Man City Vs Man United

Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville are both expecting different results when City take on United in the Manchester derby this weekend.

Speaking on The Overlap, Carragher was keen for Neville not to get involved due to his United connections but he also commented that he is confident that the home side will get the three points:

“You know what? I need to take him [Neville] out of this because he’s letting his [emotions take control]. 3-1 Man City.”

Neville then chimed in to say he is hoping that his former club can come away with something from the Etihad:

“I’ll take a draw now. I’ll take a draw.”

It’s a massive game for Guardiola and City

With the Cityzens having lost their last two matches against Tottenham and Brighton, manager Pep Guardiola will be very aware of what is at stake heading into Sunday’s encounter.

A home defeat in the derby would send alarm bells ringing, and it could send the club into crisis mode very early on in the season. In contrast, a convincing victory would help steady the ship.

Injuries won’t help the home side

The news that Omar Marmoush will miss the fixture is just the latest in the long line of injury setbacks that the Cityzens have suffered since the start of the season.

At the moment, there are 10 players on the treatment table. There is some hope that the likes of Phil Foden, John Stones, Abdukodir Khusanov and potentially Savinho could be back available for this weekend, but we have yet to receive a comprehensive update on who has returned to training and who hasn’t since the international break. We should find out more during Guardiola’s pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
