Adam Silver gives shockingly weird answer on rising NBA viewing costs

Adam Silver says fans who can’t afford streaming services to watch NBA games can still watch free highlights, calling the NBA a “highlight sport.”

The rising cost of watching NBA games live has become a concern for many fans around the world. On top of that, the need to maintain multiple streaming subscriptions just to follow every game feels like too much to ask.

During a press conference on Wednesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver addressed the issue, noting that fans who can’t afford streaming services can still enjoy free highlights, describing the NBA as a “highlight sport.”

"There's a huge amount of our content that people can essentially consume for free," he said.

"I mean this is very much a highlights-based sport. So Instagram, TikTok, Twitter you name it. Any service, the New York Times for that matter to the extent that your content is not behind a paid firewall."

"There's an enormous amount of content out there. YouTube, another example that is advertising based that consumers can consume," Silver added.
