‘On Their List’–Report Claims West Ham Are Plotting Move For German International With£34.5M Buyout Clause

West Ham are keeping close tabs on Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, according to reports in the German media.

Fussballeuropa.com claim that the Hammers have the 24-year-old “on their list” of targets ahead of next summer.

Stiller is believed to have a €40m (£34.5m) release clause in his contract, and his availability for that price is likely to have attracted the London club’s interest.

West Ham’s recruitment team are said to be considering a concrete approach for the German international at the end of the season.

However, it must be pointed out that a lot will depend on whether Graham Potter is still in charge by then. He works closely with Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay, and both could leave the London Stadium if results don’t improve over the coming weeks. The Irons have lost 3 of their first 4 matches in all competitions so far this campaign.

Other Premier League clubs have been linked with the West Ham target

There have been speculative reports mentioning Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal as potential suitors for Stiller.

However, no credible sources have so far backed up those claims. For the time being, it seems as if the Hammers are the likeliest to make a move for the player

Stiller has expressed an interest in leaving Germany

Speaking about his future earlier this week, the Stuttgart star made it clear that he would be open to joining a team outside of the Bundesliga:

“Basically, I’m interested in going abroad at some point; I thought Florian Wirtz’s decision to go to Liverpool was cool.”

Of course, it remains to be seen whether he sees West Ham as an attractive destination. Graham Potter’s side will probably have to improve their league position significantly to be in with a chance of securing his services.
