Newcastle United cancel tickets for upcoming Champions League clash following Dundee High…

· 11 September 2025, 14:00

Newcastle United fans were in a frenzy on Wednesday when it emerged that three schools in Dundee, Scotland, were operating trips to attend the Champions League game against Barcelona at St James' Park.

Over 100,000 Newcastle fans had tried to get tickets for that game, and there was understandable uproar when it emerged that up to 150 tickets were going to schools outside of the North East.

The schools in question have maintained that they bought the tickets from an 'approved supplier', however, the club have now confirmed that no such third party has authorisation to sell the club's tickets.

As a result, the club have cancelled many tickets for next Thursday's game as well as cancelling a number of Season Tickets for breaching rules.

Newcastle United have cancelled tickets for the upcoming Barcelona game

The club have issued a statement, via The Chronicle, saying that tickets have been cancelled without a refund and will be made available to members.

"Newcastle United has cancelled a number of tickets for the UEFA Champions League match with FC Barcelona due to a breach of season ticket terms and conditions. The relevant season tickets have also been cancelled with immediate effect and without refund.

"These tickets will be made available to Newcastle United supporters through the club's existing ticket sale process. Supporters who suspect unauthorised reselling are urged to send relevant information to [email protected]."

Newcastle United are clamping down on ticket touts

The Chronicle have added 4,500 membership accounts are being watched due to suspicious activity, and around 750 supporters are currently being actively monitored for potential touting and unauthorised selling.

It's a shame that those kids will now miss out on what would have been seen as a trip of a lifetime, even for those kids who have no affiliation with Newcastle, but perhaps a bigger shame for those parents who paid for the trip who will now be out of pocket for the price of those tickets when they technically did nothing wrong.

On the flip side, it is good to see the club clamping down on this. It's hard enough to get tickets as it is without shady operations like this making it harder. And it does mean that more real fans will be at the game, which is a good thing.
