‘Definitely…’ - Daniel Farke drops big Ampadu injury update as £16m star set to miss Leeds v…

Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu is back in training and ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury, manager Daniel Farke has confirmed ahead of the clash with Fulham this weekend.

The Whites skipper was forced off during the opening game of the season with a knee injury and was expected to miss around four weeks of action.

However, the Wales international is now back in training ahead of time and a late call will be made on if he is available for the Premier League game this weekend at Craven Cottage.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Farke confirmed that both Ampadu and Japan international Ao Tanaka have returned to training following their knee injuries and decisions will be made on their involvement closer to the game.

However, £16m summer signing Lucas Perri will "definitely" miss at least the next two fixtures with a thigh injury picked up during the international break.

In addition to late calls being made on their midfield duo, strikers Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe are both injury doubts too which could leave Farke with a big decision to make on their forward line.

The Peacocks added Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to their squad during the transfer window and both could now start as the central number nine, while Wilfried Gnonto, Daniel James, Jack Harrison and Brendan Aaronson are all pushing to start out wide too.

So far this season Leeds have four points from their opening three games after defeating Everton in their opening game at Elland Road, before being thrashed away at Arsenal and then drawing 0-0 with Newcastle United before the international break.

The team will now travel to the capital to take on Fulham, where they could come up against midfielder Harry Wilson, who was on the verge of a move to join them on Deadline Day before a deal collapsed at the last minute despite a fee being agreed and a deal sheet being submitted.
