Major lift for Arsenal before Forest clash, but big worry remains

Mikel Arteta has been handed positive news before Arsenal’s Premier League home match against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

According to journalist Charles Watts, both Christian Nørgaard and Ben White have returned to training and could be available for selection.

Nørgaard yet to feature this season

The midfielder, who joined from Brentford earlier in the summer, has not appeared in any of Arsenal’s opening three matchday squads.

The Danish international played well during pre-season, showing signs that he could add strength to Arteta’s midfield options.

Despite his bright pre-season form, the 31-year-old has been left out of competitive action so far.

His return to training now offers Arteta another option as Arsenal aim to get their season back on track.

White in line for return

Ben White also took part in training after sitting out the last two fixtures through injury.

The defender featured in the opening game of the campaign, where he played 71 minutes in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

White’s presence helped the team record a clean sheet that day, but he has been unavailable since then.

His return this week provides a timely lift for Arteta as Arsenal prepare to face Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium.

Still, Arteta has injury concerns to deal with. Key players Bukayo Saka and William Saliba remain absent from training and are expected to miss the weekend’s clash.

Saka picked up an injury during the win over Leeds United, which forced him to limp off in the second half. He then missed Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Saliba also suffered a setback during the Liverpool game, coming off after just four minutes. His absence in defence means Arteta will explore other squad options..

Arsenal will aim to respond positively after the defeat to Liverpool, with Arteta hopeful that the return of White and Nørgaard can make a difference.

The Gunners will view this match as an opportunity to return to winning ways in front of their home fans.
