You either love Marcelo Bielsa or you hate him. For Leeds fans, it will always be love, which means they should love the latest story about the Argentine.
[AS provide the details today](https://chile.as.com/futbol/le-prometi-a-mi-hija-que-cuando-bielsa-volviera-a-chile-lo-iba-a-poder-conocer-fue-dificil-pero-lo-logramos-n/?outputType=amp), from an interview with Alejandro Burgos, one of the founders of Dreams Auctions, the leading sports auction house in South America.
They explain that Burgos was one of the lucky ones to meet Bielsa this week as he made his return to Chile with his current team, Uruguay.
His return to his former employers, who he managed from 2007 to 2011, caused something of a furore in Chile, with plenty travelling to Uruguay’s hotel to try and get a photo with him or even catch a glimpse of his arrival.
Some were allowed to meet him, and Burgos was one of them. His bond with the Argentine coach goes back many years, though.
He actually met Bielsa face to face in 2019 when he was Leeds United, where he had a 40-minute meeting with the Argentine coach alongside his son, where they presumably talked all things football, including Chile.
His daughter, Elena, was too young to make that trip, or perhaps appreciate it, but she’s been educated on Bielsa ever since. Now she’s been able to meet the former Leeds boss too, much to Burgos’ obvious delight.
“The thing is, Elena, my daughter, was little when I went to Leeds in 2019; that time I went alone with my other son, who’s older,” he said.
“She always saw how much I loved Bielsa, and I promised her that when he returned to Chile, she would be able to meet him.
“In fact, when the qualifying schedule came out, I told her that moment would come, but that was about three years ago (laughs). I’ll tell her a little about what Bielsa did so they can learn about the history of Chilean football.
“It’s a moment (the meeting in 2019) I remember fondly. I was in England for other things, so I took a train with my son and headed to Leeds. We were alone in his office for about 40 minutes.
“I remember bringing him some music CDs I knew he liked, and some documentaries too. He was very affectionate with me, signing things for me, and giving me a Leeds shirt.”
