The case involving former Real Madrid academy defender Raul Asencio has seen a development, with one of the two victims withdrawing her complaint against him.
Asencio, 22, has been charged with distributing sexual content without consent and initially also faced an accusation of distributing child pornography. He is one of four former La Fábrica players — along with Ferran Ruiz, Andrés Martín, and Juan Rodríguez — named in the case stemming from events in the Canary Islands during the summer of 2023.
Two young women, aged 16 and 18 at the time, were involved in the incident. The older of the two has now decided to drop charges against Asencio without any settlement, stating: “I accept the apology freely and voluntarily, and I express my forgiveness. I do not want him to be criminally punished.”
Despite that, legal proceedings continue. The state prosecutor is seeking a 2.5-year prison sentence, though the child pornography charge has been dropped. The younger of the two victims, however, has not withdrawn her complaint and is pushing for a four-year sentence, maintaining the child pornography allegation.
Asencio has denied wrongdoing, saying in a public statement that he will defend his innocence and that his conscience is clear. Real Madrid have yet to issue a response.
