Manchester United outcast Tyrell Malacia is reportedly reluctant to join Turkish Super Lig outfit Eyupspor despite initial interest.
According to an update by Alex Crook, Tyrell Malacia has his doubts about joining Eyupspor. While the Dutchman was initially considering a move to the Turkish outfit, he is now hesitant to join the Super Lig club. Despite not being part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, he seems rather comfortable staying at Old Trafford.
Malacia made a name for himself at Feyenoord before joining Manchester United in the summer of 2022. While he had an impressive debut campaign, things only went downhill for him post that. He spent the entire 2023/24 season on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
The Dutch international was back in action towards the end of 2024, but by then, he had already lost his place in the team. Manchester United ended up sending him out on loan to PSV Eindhoven for the second half of last season.
While the 26-year-old did feature in a total of 12 matches, he was a mere shadow of his former self. Malacia returned to his parent club in the summer, but Amorim made it quite clear to him that he wasn’t a part of his plans going forward.
Malacia unlikely to leave Manchester United
Both Manchester United and Tyrell Malacia’s camp were actively looking for a new club throughout the summer, but things did not go according to plan. The transfer window in the majority of European countries ended without Malacia securing a move away.
Since the window in Turkiye remained open, Manchester United were hoping to get him off their books, and Eyupspor emerged as a potential destination. The Super Lig club are ready to sign the 26-year-old on loan. While Malacia initially considered the idea of joining them, he is now hesitant to make the move.
He is not overly keen on joining them, and Crook has suggested that the Dutch international is another player who was lucky to secure a massive paycheck at Old Trafford and is now determined to stick around until the end of his contract. With the Turkish transfer window also fast approaching its deadline, Malacia’s move now looks unlikely.
