Open Goal pundit reveals the 'mad' thing Kieran Tierney told him in private about Celtic and…

Kieran Tierney has now revealed a huge difference between playing for Celtic and Arsenal.

Tierney left the Hoops in 2019 to sign for the Gunners in a deal worth £25m, and spent six years in North London with a loan to Real Sociedad in between.

But the Celtic hero made a decision to leave Arsenal in January and put pen to paper on a five-year pre-contract with the Bhoys.

Tierney is now back with Brendan Rodgers, and despite concerns over his current fitness having pulled out of the Scotland squad, Celtic fans are delighted the left-back returned to Parkhead.

So what does Tierney think about the difference in pressure between representing Celtic week in week out, and Premier League giants Arsenal?

Tierney admits Celtic brings more pressure than Arsenal

Open Goal podcaster and former Celtic youth player Si Ferry has revealed he had a conversation with Tierney last week at the Scotland hotel.

This was just before Tierney and his Celtic teammate Anthony Ralston pulled out of the national team squad due to injuries.

And Ferry says Tierney told him that playing for Celtic brings much more pressure than playing for Arsenal in the Premier League.

MORE CELTIC STORIES

Ferry said: “It’s mad because I spoke to Tierney in a hotel last week, in the Scotland hotel, and I said that to him, is there more pressure at Celtic than at Arsenal?

“And he was like that: ‘Aye mate, 100 per cent.’ Celtic is more pressured than Arsenal, which I find mad.”

Will Tierney be fit to face Kilmarnock?

At the moment, it is assumed that Tierney is injured given his departure from the Scotland squad last week.

He missed the draw to Denmark and the win over Belarus, but was it really an injury or just a chance for him to recover from a niggly knock?

Brendan Rodgers will hold his pre-Kilmarnock press conference at Lennoxtown on Friday and will reveal to reporters what Tierney’s situation looks like.

It may well be that loanee Marcelo Saracchi is thrown in from the start at Rugby Park, where Celtic have won their last two games.

However, the previous two visits before that were defeats, and Rugby Park has never been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Bhoys.
