Exclusive: Saudi Pro League make one thing clear about January move for Man United's Bruno Fernandes

TBR Football understands that the Saudi Pro League have not given up on Bruno Fernandes and will return for him in 2026, possibly even in January if they receive encouragement to do so.

The Pro League made a concerted effort to bring the Manchester United captain to the Middle East this summer.

Al-Hilal were ready to hand him a contract, making him one of the best-paid players in world football, whilst Al-Ittihad and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr were also in contention.

However, as TBR Football revealed earlier this year, United made it clear they would be keeping Fernandes. Fernandes also confirmed to United that he wanted to stay, but despite this, the links have not gone away.

Exclusive: Saudi Pro League not discounting January swoop for Bruno Fernandes

Sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that lines of communication between the Pro League and Bruno Fernandes‘ camp have remained open, and they have made it clear to him that they are ready to make their move.

For his part, Fernandes is concentrating on United and Portugal’s qualifying campaign for next summer’s World Cup.

Although it has already been made clear to him that a move to Saudi Arabia would not impact his international place.

With that in mind, TBR Football has been told that the Pro League believe a move in January should not be discounted.

Speaking about the Pro League’s interest, Bailey told TBR Football: “At one point in the summer, the Pro League thought Bruno was coming, but they understood his reasoning for staying. It is Amorim’s first full campaign as United boss, so he felt the need, as captain, to stay.

“However, I am told that Fernandes’ situation is far from settled and come the New Year, it is one to keep an eye on when it comes to the Pro League. Fernandes is one of the few players they are prepared to pay good money for.”

The Red Devils remain keen to keep hold of their talisman, and it would take a substantial offer to prise the 29-year-old away from Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes makes an impressive start to the Premier League season

The midfielder has made a superb start to the season, with Fernandes creating the most chances in the Premier League so far this season.

Already this season, he has created 12 chances, which is also the joint-highest in Europe’s top five leagues, alongside Kylian Mbappe.
