One thing Philadelphia Eagles fans can rely on quarterback Jalen Hurts to do is create an inspirational quote that pushes everyone to think deeper.
During Hurts' press conference, he talked about how he has emphasized discipline with the Eagles football team. That has become a big focus for him as the team enters a massive Week 2 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.
"Discipline is discipline," Hurts said viaThe Athletic's Zach Berman. "A hit dog will holler. So however it hits you, that's what it applies to. How discipline will be the key in the Eagles winning in Kansas City in Week 2
The message of discipline is particularly fitting for the Chiefs' game after last week, when defensive tackle Jalen Carter lacked that discipline, spitting at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, resulting in his ejection and fine. That lack of discipline in the heat of the moment almost cost the Eagles the win, but the rest of the team was able to practice what Hurts is preaching with a 24-20 win.
That message will have to be the same against Kansas City. Now that the Chiefs know that some players on the team can get easily rattled by anything, they will be testing the team with small things to get them to react.
It will take veterans on the defense like Zack Baun, Reed Blankenship, Adoree' Jackson, and newly acquired Za'Darius Smith to be the calming minds on defense. Hurts will help, but he's not on defense, so someone needs to make sure the younger guys keep their heads in the game and avoid mental mistakes.
