Andre Onana given usual Turkish welcome as Manchester United goalkeeper arrives to seal loan exit

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has now arrived in Trabzon ahead of finalising a loan move to Trabzonspor.

That’s according to Fotomaç, who have pictures of the Manchester United goalkeeper arriving to a raucous website from Trabzonspor fans.

Their images show him arriving at Trabzon airport and then being escorted through a crowd amid a haze of smoke, which appears to be from flares set off by the surrounding fans.

A report earlier today stated that Onana was travelling via private jet to Trabzon today after Trabzonspor struck a loan agreement with Manchester United for him. Later images showed him boarding the private jet alongside his family.

He is departing Manchester United on a temporary basis after they secured the signing of Senne Lammens on deadline day of the summer transfer window. That pushed Onana further down the pecking order, having already started the season behind Altay Bayindir.

The goalkeeper has had a tough two years at Old Trafford following a €50m move from Inter Milan, with a series of high-profile mistakes not helping his cause. He’s now looking to start again in Türkiye and has been promised the backing from fans as well.

Futbol Arena report that he spoke with fans at the airport on arrival and was given immediate backing by those in attendance.

“You are a very talented and good goalkeeper,” they are quoted as saying.

“Even if they make fun of you behind your back, we have great confidence in you. You have more than that. We want you to prove yourself by showing this in the Fenerbahçe match.”
