‘Contracts Talks Ongoing’For 2 Crucial Arsenal Stars As Berta Tries To Fend Off Real Madrid

Arsenal are reportedly in ongoing talks over extending Bukayo Saka and William Saliba’s contracts at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have started the season well after what was a busy summer for the Arsenal boss and his Sporting Director Andrea Berta. The pair signed the likes of Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and more to help strengthen the squad ahead of the season.

The Gunners will hope their long-term investment will help to provide a Premier League or Champions League title this season, and the first trophy since 2020, in Arteta’s first season.

Berta also has a good record with long-term extensions, as he’s managed to sign new contracts with Gabriel, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, tying them down at Arsenal for the long-term, which is of crucial importance. However, his two most important signings are yet to materialise.

Arsenal in talks with Saka and Saliba

Both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba’s contracts are due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, meaning that the Gunners could be heading into next summer’s transfer window, with them both having one year left.

That’s a dangerous position to be in, especially considering that reports have said that Saliba has been subject to a lot of transfer interest from Real Madrid, who could come in for the French defender.

However, according to Arsenal reporter Charles Watts via Caught Offside, Arsenal are working to sign both players to long-term contracts. Watts wrote: “Talks have been ongoing for a while now with both players and Arsenal are confident that the discussions are going well and both will commit their futures to the North London club.

“I couldn’t say for sure when those deals will be agreed, because they are complicated and both Saka and Saliba were into the final year of their former deals before they last put pen to paper in 2023. The hope at Arsenal is that neither negotiation will drag on as long as that this time around and the noises around Saka are certainly very positive.”
