Arsenal ace makes transfer decision amid Besiktas interest - Arsenal News

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard will stay at the club despite interest from Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas. After reports last week of Besiktas’ €22m bid for the player, the decision has now been made by Arsenal to keep Trossard at the Emirates.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the move has “no chance” of happening, with Trossard having signed a new deal at Arsenal in August. The Belgium international put pen to paper on a new contract that secured him a pay rise but did not extend the length of his deal which expires in the summer of 2027.

Besiktas are looking to add firepower before the Super Lig transfer window closes on Friday. They also enquired about a loan deal for Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa which was denied by the Reds.

Trossard’s future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with links to Besiktas’ Turkish Super Lig rivals Fenerbahce as well as Crystal Palace also surfacing earlier in the window. He has cut a frustrated figure for some parts of his Arsenal career, having to settle for a place for a bench on more occasions than he would have hoped.

Trossard set to stay at Arsenal

His place in the pecking order this season could be even lower following Arsenal’s heavy recruitment. New signings Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, and Noni Madueke all occupy similar roles to Trossard and could see his time limited.

He has featured just once in Arsenal’s first three Premier League matches this season, coming on as a second half substitute in their 5-0 home win against Leeds in Matchweek 2. He remains a useful member of Arteta’s squad though, having scored 27 goals and provided 13 assists over the past two seasons.

Arsenal fans will remember most of those goals coming as an impact sub in must win situations. With injuries piling up already for the Gunners this season, it is unlikely the club will sanction any more departures.
