Ange Postecoglou has once again turned to his Celtic past while speaking at his Nottingham Forest unveiling.
The Australian, who enjoyed trophy-laden years in Glasgow, admitted the club still holds a special place for him as he began life in the Premier League with a new challenge.
The former Hoops boss was asked about how his Celtic spell finished and whether there were regrets about leaving. Postecoglou was quick to dismiss any suggestion of looking back with frustration, insisting that his time at Parkhead remains a source of pride.
He also pointed out that departures are a natural part of football. Having moved on from both Celtic and Yokohama F. Marinos earlier in his career, he acknowledged that disappointment follows when a successful spell comes to an end.
But for Postecoglou, each step has been about opportunity. He told reporters that leaving those clubs has opened new doors, with his latest move to Nottingham Forest seen as another chapter that he believes “happens for a reason.”
He said: (Beanyman Sports), “I’m very proud of what we achieved there, and it will always take a special place in my heart. How it ended? I don’t really think about it.
“And to be fair, I’ve done it a couple of times myself. I left Celtic, and I’m sure that they were disappointed. I left Yokohama, and I’m sure that they were disappointed.
“So you understand that that’s part of the business we’re in. But that’s okay, it’s allowed me to move into this, and maybe these things happen for a reason.”
Postecoglou’s latest comments show just how strongly he still feels about his time in Glasgow. Even as he settles into a new Premier League role, Celtic remains the reference point for the success that shaped his reputation.
For many supporters, hearing the Australian speak so warmly about his years at Parkhead will only reinforce the bond he built during his short but highly successful stint. His double-winning debut season and dominance in domestic football left a lasting legacy.

At the same time, Postecoglou’s remarks highlight the reality of football management. Clubs and managers part ways, often with disappointment on one side, but the game quickly moves forward. He made clear that such moments have been stepping stones in his career.
Now at Nottingham Forest, he faces a fresh set of demands, but his Celtic record will continue to follow him. For Postecoglou, it seems less about closing chapters and more about carrying those achievements as a foundation for whatever comes next.
