Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister sent a message to new Arsenal recruit Piero Hincapie after the two clashed during Argentina's 1-0 defeat to Ecuador in their World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. The game was a feisty affair between the two sides, with both Nicolas Otamendi and Chelsea ball-winner Moises Caicedo being sent off either side of half-time.
A penalty from former West Ham striker Enner Valencia, 13 minutes into first-half stoppage time, was enough for the underdogs to claim victory, moving Ecuador up to second in the World Cup qualifying standings. However, it was Mac Allister who made the most headlines with a social media post after the final whistle, to which Hincapie, among others, responded directly.
Mac Allister Posts Video of Hincapie Clash
In the video posted to Mac Allister's official Instagram, the former Brighton midfielder could be seen confronting Hincapie as the defender complained to the referee over a decision. The World Cup winner charged up to his opponent and shoved him away while shouting at him.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho could be seen half-heartedly stepping in between the two as Mac Allister continued to charge at Hincapie while berating him.
The slow-motion video was posted with a caption from Mac Allister that read "VOS NO SOS ASI," while tagging Hincapie. The phrase translates to "YOU ARE NOT LIKE THAT."
Among those who replied to the post were Mac Allister's Liverpool teammate Curtis Jones and former Reds midfielder Tyler Morton. Jones responded with a laughing emoji, while Morton, now at Lyon, wrote: "Go on Macca."
On top of that, Hincapie also directly responded in jest, commenting: "Como te gusta papi," which translates to "How do you like it daddy?"
The official Latin Premier League account also chimed in to smooth things over, writing: "I love you both," with the post clearly taken in the light-hearted manner it was intended.
