Gary Neville Claims Winger Who Chelsea Sold For £52M Is Now A "Different Player"

**_Sky Sports_ pundit Gary Neville says Noni Madueke has looked like a “different player” since he swapped Chelsea for Arsenal.**

The Blues sold the England international for £52m, and while Neville understood why the winger was let go, he thinks Madueke has upped his game since making the switch across London:

“I would ask about Madueke because, I’ll be honest with you, when he when Arsenal signed him, I’d seen him play quite a lot at Chelsea. I thought … I can see why Chelsea sort of let him go.”

“I tell you – what a different player at Arsenal, and in the England games in the last few weeks.”

It’s massive recency bias from Neville

--------------------------------------

Madueke has caught the eye, especially whilst playing for England, over the past week, but the main issue with the 23-year-old has been his consistency.

There is no doubt about his talent, but both Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca have stated that he struggles to maintain his level in training. The forward was even left out of the matchday squad by Maresca for one game against Fulham on Boxing Day last year because he wasn’t happy with his attitude.

Neville is clearly forgetting that Madueke has had purple patches in the past, only to then drop form massively. It should also be pointed out that the forward has not scored or provided an assist in his 3 appearances for Arsenal so far.

Chelsea are more than happy with Madueke’s replacement

The main beneficiary of the player’s departure to Arsenal is Estevao. The Brazilian has spoken out in recent days to say he is surprised that he has been handed so many first-team opportunities already.

If Madueke had stayed at Stamford Bridge, it’s very unlikely that the teenager would have [**started**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-predicted-lineup-brentford/) for the Blues. Not many supporters would disagree that the club have found an upgrade.
