The transfer window may be shut for Premier League clubs to complete incoming business, but a few leagues around the world are still able to trade.
One of those includes the Turkish Super Lig, where the window shuts on Friday, 12th September, while Portuguese (15th September) and Saudi Arabian (23rd September) have even longer to finalise signings.
But it’s in Turkey where the intrigue comes in from a Newcastle perspective, as interest has emerged in former captain Jamaal Lascelles.
[The Mail’s](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15088533/Newcastle-stadium-delay-badge-Dundee-tickets-injury-news-Craig-Hope.html) Craig Hope reveals that the 31-year-old is now one to ‘keep an eye on’ over the next 24 hours, with Trabzonspor now exploring a deal for the experienced defender.
Lascelles received interest from Besiktas last year and has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle, meaning this summer may be the last chance for the club to land a half-decent fee.
He has also been left out of Newcastle’s Champions League squad for the upcoming campaign and has fallen down in the pecking order following his return from an ACL injury, with Malick Thiaw’s arrival seeing him drop to fifth choice behind Burn, Schar, Botman and Thiaw.
Lascelles, to many, remains the ‘club captain’ and is still a big voice and presence behind the scenes, but he hasn’t featured since a 4-3 win over West Ham last March and may fancy a move for the sake of his career and playing time.
