This summer window allowed Leeds United to offload a host of players this summer. Most fans knew that with the team going up to the Premier League, some new players would come in.
And to create space in the squad, some stars needed to be let go. Daniel Farke made it known that Patrick Bamford was not in his plans for this season. He was left out of pre-season and eventually came to an agreement to terminate his contract. Another player who missed pre-season was Mateo Joseph, he refused to join camp as he was looking for the transfer.

It was reported earlier this week that Turkish side Trabzonspor had Illan Meslier on the radar. The Leeds star was a serious target, before they opted to go with Manchester United’s Andre Onana.
“A lot of goalkeepers were on the market after the Premier League window shut.” Graeme Bailey said.
“Trabzonspor was an option for him [before they signed Andre Onana]. It’s one of those where he’ll end up staying until January. It’s one of those situations where it could have been handled better by Leeds.”
Foot Mercato in France have also revealed that another Turkish club failed to sign Meslier after the England transfer deadline. Galatasaray were keen on the Leeds stopper, but a move did not pan out. The Turkish club were really desperate for a first choice keeper and lined up moves for Meslier, Al-Hilal’s Yassine Bounou, and former Manchester City GK Ederson. They ended up signing Trabzonspor’s Ugurcan Cakir on a permanent deal.
What happens with Meslier now?
With transfer windows across Europe quickly closing, it looks like Meslier will stay at Elland Road. His current contract runs out next summer, and the only other chance he will get to move is in the January window. And by January, he is legally allowed to speak to other clubs and sign a pre-contract.
Leeds United could end up letting the Frenchman leave for free.
